WRRA Pep Squad For The Cleveland Marathon

Come and join us at 7 am Sunday for the third annual Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon WRRA Pep Club/Dance Party @ The Harp! It’s the marathon’s 35^th year!

We’ve reached such critical mass with our on-street cheer party that we are now officially recognized by Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon organizers as:

- The Harp’s Karen O’Malley has been kind enough to turn her parking lot over to Western Reserve Rowing Association and Erik Murdell/the Coachabago is providing his mobile DJ services! The Harp will be open at 10 for after-marathon replenishment (cheering is hard but very enjoyable work!) and will also provide coffee earlier in the morning.

- We’re expecting about 400+ spectators to join in on the shenanigans so bring your favorite noisemaker (drum, whistle, cowbell). And bring your friends!

- First hand cyclist arrives at The Harp around 7:10, first marathon runner arrives around 7:30, and last runner comes through around 10:00 am.

With over 10,000 RACM half and full marathon participants passing our location at The Harp Sunday morning, this event provides us a unique opportunity to:

1) Participate without actually having to RUN in a singular Cleveland event

2) Publicly display to those outside of our community that rowers are an engaged part of a much much larger recreational population of northeast Ohio.

3) Have a fun time acting in whatever fashion moves us (and the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon participants REALLY appreciate it)

Here is welcoming the start of the 2012 Summer Rowing League season. Have a fun season and we look forward to the first SRL Regatta on Sunday, July 1st.

River Sweep & WRRA Opening Day Party

This Saturday is sure shaping up to be a fabulously fun day!
- First, the weather will be great – sunny and in the mid 70’s.
- Second, we get to give a big wet smooch to the Cuyahoga River Corridor by participating in RiverSweep (9am-12 noon).
- And then it’s the WRRA Opening Day party from 1:30-4:30 pm!

Celebrate the beginning of rowing season and join old and new friends and teammates! Novice rowers will have the opportunity to meet new teammates and learn more about rowing from seasoned veterans. And Beth O’Kain and Drink Local. Drink Tap. will be talking about her planned Great Lakes Row

We will have program representatives from masters and sculling for those interested in learning more about these programs. Individuals and teams may bring chairs and set up tents for this event.

Also featured – Brats (veggie fare too!), beverages, music and games…What a great way to kick off the new 2012 rowing season!

For any rowers (with at least 1 year of rowing experience) that are interested in joining the Masters Team, please join us this Saturday, April 28th at 9:00AM at Sainatos for a beginning of the year meeting. Head Coach Kirk Lang will discuss this year’s team goals, changes in team structure, and lay out the traveling away regatta’s to be expected for the team. If your interested or would like to have questions answered, please join us. The meeting will last from 9:00-10:00AM
