For Experienced Rowers
Program Description
Recreational Rowing (REC) is a transitional program for experienced rowers who are ready to move beyond the once a week Summer Rowing League (SRL) program. For some this may serve as the next step towards preparing to participate in the more intensive Masters Competitive program. For others it may serve as an opportunity to row more frequently, to improve rowing skills, and to improve fitness level.
Led by WRRA’s REC coaches, crews practice in 90 minute sessions twice a week in either 4-person or 8-person shells. Enrollment is limited to ensure close personal attention by the coaching staff. The cost does not include coxswain fees; rowers must be willing to cox themselves or provide other arrangements to cover coxing. REC crews will also have the opportunity to race, if desired, in select out-of-town regattas during the summer.
Program Dates
The 13 week Summer REC program is open to all experienced rowers who have completed a minimum of two previous WRRA rowing league sessions (such as summer and fall) or any other REC program.
May 20 through August 17
Weekday practices 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Men: Monday / Women: Tuesday
Saturdays: mixed practice 10:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Program Cost
2013 Summer REC program package, with WRRA general membership, seasonal facility assessment + General Sweeps fee: $430
Summer REC Program fee + General Sweeps, (for concurrently registered eligible SRL rowers to enroll in Summer REC): $180
Note: Registration for the REC programs automatically includes enrollment in General Sweeps***, which is required in order to participate in the program.
Note: Taxes (7.75%) and processing fees ($1.25 + 2.99%) will add an additional ~ 11% to the total charge.
***REC participants pay only a summer seasonal facility assessment and thus must pay a fall seasonal facility assessment to row as a ‘general sweeps’ rower after September 1.
