Recreational Rowing Program

For Experienced Rowers

Program Description

Recreational Rowing will offer coached rowing with an emphasis on technique and time to enjoy being outdoors on the river. It's for those that just want to get out on the river and row, with some coaching, lower stroke ratings and no emphasis on racing.

The 15-week Recreational program is open to all experienced rowers who have completed a minimum of two previous WRRA rowing league sessions (such as summer and fall), or the Recreational or Performance rowing program.

Led by WRRA’s Recreational Rowing coaches, crews practice in 90-minute sessions twice a week (Monday and Saturday) in either 4-person or 8-person shells. Enrollment is limited to ensure close personal attention by the coaching staff. The cost does include coxswain fees.  Recreational crews will also have the opportunity to race, if desired, in select out-of-town regattas during the summer. Please refer to the Recreational Rowing Program Guidelines for more specific information.

Each year, WRRA sends competitive men's and women's crews to as many as a dozen away regattas during the spring, summer and fall. Competing against other club crews can be a rewarding experience and a great way to test your skills as a rower. Away regatta participation is open to any WRRA member with more than one year of rowing experience and/or Head Coach recommendation.
