Masters Rowing

For Experienced Rowers

The Masters Competitive Program is composed of experienced rowers with a focus on competitive training and racing.  The team represents WRRA in local, regional, and national rowing regattas. Technical ability, fitness level, and flexibility must be high.  Rowers with a minimum one-year of prior rowing experience (or Head Coach exemption) who desire to participate in competitive rowing and compete in regattas are welcomed.

This intensive sweeps rowing program incorporates on-the-water practices 3x a week led by a WRRA Masters Head Coach, working in conjunction with assistant coaches. Masters Competitive rowers are expected to be devoted to additional training sessions weekly through erging, sculling, strength training or other forms of cross training.

The Masters Competitive Program will include team benchmarks. Team members are expected to meet the standards of 1k and 5k erg tests which are conducted throughout the season. Week 1 and 2 consist of erg tests, individual goal setting, and captains' practices.

Racing lineups will be designed by the WRRA Masters Head Coach to make the most competitive boats possible. Participation in races is determined by several factors including seat race performance, erg benchmarks, attendance, technique, and attitude.
