Learn to Row (LTR)

Discover Rowing on the Cuyahoga River

Learn to Row is a two-hour introductory session for adults (18+) who are new to rowing. Set on the scenic Cuyahoga River, this hands-on experience introduces the fundamentals of rowing and offers a pathway into Cleveland’s rowing community through WRRA’s Summer Rowing League or Veterans Rowing League.

What You’ll Learn

Participants will be guided by experienced WRRA instructors and will learn:

  • Basic rowing technique using a stationary rowing machine (erg)
  • Rowing terminology and proper boat handling
  • River safety and navigation rules
  • A 90-minute on-the-water practice in an eight-person rowing shell
  • (Time on the water may vary due to river traffic—freighters have the right of way.)

Session Details

  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Cost: $62.50 per session
  • Eligibility: Adults 18 and older
  • Requirement: Only one Learn to Row session is required to join the Summer Rowing League
